Our Church

Nestled in the picturesque town of Pilesgrove, NJ, Mt Laurel AME Church is “A Place Where Faith Comes to Life.” With its historic roots dating back to 1872, this church serves as a spiritual haven for locals and visitors alike. Not content just to minister within the walls, members are engaged in community service, missions and outreach. From seniors at a local nursing home to children at a Teddy Bear Picnic, everyone is someone special.

Our Pastor

Rev. Laverne C. McClellan

Rev. Laverne C. McClellan was appointed to Mt. Laurel on June 14, 2025. She has been prepared in head and heart with degrees in Mathematics, Business and Theology. She also has been active in various ministerial groups, community organizations, and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.®

She has worked as a hospice chaplain for 20 years. She has been a life coach, HIV/AIDS trainer; literacy volunteer; leader of conferences, revivals and workshops, author of a book of poems, “Love Bears All Things,” and a play, “Visions of Virtue”, and she is one who loves God and tries to live a life that pleases and glorifies God.

She recognizes that God has blessed her to be a blessing and is grateful for every opportunity to serve.
